New Fork Lake Hike Description

Hike amongst cattle, blooming wildflowers, lush grasslands bound by looming granite bluffs on the New Fork Lake Hike. Out outside into the fresh air and reconnect with nature as you wander through the sub-alpine environment. Those yearning for a more secluded adventure are encouraged to head out in the early morning or late evenings to avoid the rush! As you explore the wilderness, wildlife encounters are possible, so bring a can of bear spray with you and maintain a safe distance if you do have a run-in. While the views of the Wind River Mountains are limited, the views of the mirroring pool and bounding granite bluffs are quite photogenic.

Your fun family hike along the New Fork Lake Trail begins from the trailhead off the New Fork Lake Parking Lot. From here, the New Fork Lake heads east along the forested shoreline cliff. Notice the enchanting ambiance of the lush woodlands and enjoy the tree shade while you can. After some hiking, the path will open into the exposed terrain. Watch the views of the encompassing mountains unfold before you as you travel deeper into the wilderness.

Soon the path will plunge down into a vast swathe of meadowlands. If you are lucky, you might be in the company of grazing cattle. Appreciate the gorgeous scenery, then head back the way you came to the trailhead.
