Ogden Point Breakwater Hike Description

The Ogden Point Breakwater trail isn’t really a hike, but it does offer visitors the chance to experience a vibrant coastal atmosphere as they stroll along the water’s edge. The trail follows along the sturdy concrete structure of the breakwater, meaning the entire route is very flat and suitable for hikers of all skill levels. Setting out from the parking area, make your way to the northwest and past the Ogden Point Sundial before turning to the southwest to access the breakwater. From here, continue walking along the path as it leads out over the water and provides some views across the water of Victoria Harbour. The route will turn a bit more to the west and you will eventually arrive at the lighthouse that helps guide passing ships as they enter the harbour. From this vantage point, you can hang out by the water’s edge and watch the ships as they come and go, or simply stare out into the vast expanse of the Juan de Fuca Strait. After taking in the views, head back along the trail to return to your vehicle.
