Yetman and 5th Avenue Trail Description

Tucson Mountain Park has lots of trails that can make for excellent half-day outings, and the hike on Yetman and 5th Avenue combines two of the park’s main trails to show off the scrubby desert scenery and the wildlife that live in the park. This moderately difficult trail is well marked and shared by hikers and mountain bikers.

This route is quite rocky, so we recommend sturdy boots. Bring plenty of water and avoid hiking in the heat of the day if you can. Additionally, remember that dogs are not permitted in the park. Users report rattlesnake sightings on this route, so use caution and keep your ears open as you go.

From the trailhead, hike south on Yetman Trail. Stay right at the fork and then wrap around the hill ahead of you to hike along a flat stretch in between the low peaks and hills. Take in the bushes, saguaros, and dry hills. At a 5-way junction, take a sharp right onto 5th Avenue Trail. The route terminates at the junction with the other end of Yetman Trail. Turn back and retrace your steps from here.
