Chewing Gum Lake Loop Description
Immerse yourself in the Chewing Gum Lake Loop is an epic adventure that boasts breathtaking scenery. Wander through mixed woodlands, granite gardens, expansive meadows, and along the shores of the alpine lake. Much of this path is exposed, warranting wonderful views but also extreme conditions, so check the forecast and prepare accordingly. In the winter months, be sure to strap on a pair of snowshoes or microspikes to easily navigate the likely snow-packed terrain.
Setting out from the Crabtree Trailhead, the Chewing Gum Lake Loop follows the Lake Valley Trail east. Wander through the thin forestlands before climbing up atop a ridge that will ultimately deliver you to Chewing Gum Lake. Explore the shoreline of the alpine lake and revel in the beauty of the mirroring water. This path will lead you through Lake Valley Meadow before delivering you to an intersection. Here, veer left, and you will be diverted onto the Gianelli Trail heading southwest. Wander this path, and it will guide you to the top of Burst Rock.
Marvel in the vistas of the Sierra Nevada summits, then merge onto Forest Route 4N347. Follow this trail all the way back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
