Lake Alpine and Duck Lake Loop Description

The Lake Alpine and Duck Lake Loop is an awesome adventure that boasts an exciting experience. Put your navigational skills to the test as you wander the unmarked routes over treefalls. It is important to note that there is no cell phone coverage here, so make sure to download the trail GPS in advance. Additionally, as the route travels along exposed terrain at high altitudes, it is important to check the forecast and prepare for extreme weather conditions.

Once your shoes are laced, and your trail GPS is downloaded, you can begin your hike by trekking northeast along the Lakeshore Trail. Soon you will be diverted off the path and onto the Forest Service 7N05Y before merging onto the Highland Creek Trail. Soon after, you will hook onto the Duck Lake Bypass Trail, which will deliver you to Duck Lake. At the next intersection, take a sharp right turn back onto the Highland Creek Trail. Follow this path back to the Forest Service 7N05Y, connecting with the Lakeshore Trail, tracking southwest. If you still have some gas left in the tank, take a quick detour up to Inspiration Point for some awesome views.

Continue hiking along the southern shore of Lake Alpine. At the trail’s end, merge onto the Slick Rock Road and onto West Lake Alpine Road to hike north all the way back to the trailhead.
