Squamish Estuary Trail Description

Hiking the Squamish Estuary will see you set out from a small trailhead that can be a bit tricky to find. From the corner of Vancouver Street and Cleveland Avenue, head south to find the start of the trail as it leads into the tree cover and towards the water. Although this area is close to the city, bears have been spotted along the trail. Hikers should be prepared by travelling in groups and bringing bear spray to avoid any potentially dangerous encounters.

Setting out on the trail, follow it south through the tree cover to continue along a path that hugs the edge of the water. Keep straight along the trail, following it as it eventually veers left to arrive at the scenic lookout from Newport Beach. Here, hikers will have a picturesque view of the water, and surrounding mountains as the ships pass through the inlet. After taking in the sights, continue around the loop, following it as it turns north and crosses over a road. Keep straight through any junctions to arrive back at the trailhead, having completed your hike in the Squamish Estuary.
