The Winchester to Exton Walk is a beautiful stroll that encompasses many areas of South Downs National Park. You will climb Chilcomb and take in these stunning views. Get your heart racing on this longer walk that boasts views of the coastline and Beacon Hill. A unique part of this walk is the Wayfarer’s Dole, which is a sample of ale and bread that villagers hand out to travelers.
Getting there
To get to Winchester to Exton Walk from head east on Colebrook Street toward High St/B3330 and follow B3330 and A31 to Kings Lane for 2.2mi. Follow Kings Lane, and in 0.5mi, you will arrive at your destination.

Winchester to Exton Walk Description
The Winchester to Exton Walk is a wonderful walk with a gentle climb that takes you through Chilcomb and goes up to stunning views of the Southampton skyline from Cheesefoot Head and the coastline. As you continue, you will climb Beacon Hill and be able to observe these panoramic views. You will then head downhill to Exton Beacon. Along the way, you may experience a traditional act of receiving Wayfarer’s Dole, where you will receive a small sample of ale along with a piece of bread.
This is a one-way walk, so be sure to organize your transportation before you start this walk!
