Porcupine Lake Trail Description

Leading hikers into the high country through alpine meadowlands abundant with vibrant flora, granite gardens, and dense woodlands, the scenery along this route is unparalleled—not to mention the jaw-dropping views of the Klamath Mountains! Indulge yourself in the beautiful landscape and get a workout in as you climb up to Porcupine Lake. Dress in layers, wear a pair of sturdy footwear and pack plenty of water before setting out on your adventure.

Departing from the trailhead, the Porcupine Lake Trail follows the PCT northwardly. Immediately after setting out from the trailhead, the path will climb into the high country. Weaving between mixed pine forestlands and exposed meadowlands, you will be granted lovely vistas of the neighboring craggy peaks. Let the postcard-worthy scenery motivate you as you ascend the tiring terrain to Porcupine Lake.

The blue-hued waters will tempt you, but don’t let that deceive you—the pool is frigid! Marvel in the beauty of the bounding craggy granite walls adorned with vibrant pines. After reveling in the scenery, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
