Caldwell Lakes Trail Description

The Caldwell Lakes Trail is a wonderful adventurer through mountain meadows decorated with wildflowers in the summer months and tree stands adorned with granite outcroppings up to the shimmering lakes. The route is rocky and uneven in areas, so make sure you wear a sturdy pair of footwear! Additionally, when trekking in the winter months, be sure to pack a pair of microspikes as the terrain will likely be icy! Note the road to the trailhead is rough and rugged, so a vehicle with high ground clearance and 4-wheel drive is recommended.

Embark on your adventure along the Caldwell Lakes Trail for the trailhead off NF Road 17. Setting out from here, the Caldwell Lakes Trail travels southwest along Parks Creek. As you climb, the incline will intensify. Enjoy the scene of the wildflowers and lush conifers that adorn the terrain and the soothing sounds of the gurgling waters as you wander. Eventually, you will confront a set of switchbacks up into the basin. Navigate the winding terrain, and you will be rewarded with the scene of the beautiful alpine lakes.

Explore the alpine pools and admire the commanding views of Mount Shasta. Rejuvenate your tired feet in the chilly waters, then backtrack along the route to the trailhead.
