Sequoia Lake Hike

The Sequoia Lake Trail provides the perfect opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. Explore a secluded sequoia grove in the Kings Canyon National Forest occupied with a diversity of flora, fauna, and beautiful seasonal streams. Note the path is not well signposted in areas, so we encourage you to download the GPS before departure. Additionally, Sequoia Lake is located on private property, so swimming and off-trail exploration is not permitted. The park charges an entrance fee of $35USD per vehicle or $20USD per person for pedestrians or cyclists.

Setting out from the Grant Grove Visitors Center, those trekking the Sequoia Lake Hike will cross over the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway before merging onto the leftmost South Boundary Trail. When you reach an intersection, keep right onto the Sunset Trail, and you will be diverted into the wilderness. Hike amongst mixed-conifers and sequoias to a junction signposted for Ella Falls and Sequoia Lake. Take the middle route, tracking westwardly down switchbacks to Ella Falls. Admire the charm of the small cascade, then continue along the path, keeping left at the following trail fork.

Here the trail GPS may prove useful, though to access the overlook of Lake Sequoia, all you must do is keep right at the next intersection, then left at the following. Soon you will reach the lookout over the beautiful Sequoia Lake. Appreciate the beauty of the scenery, then retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
