Deadman’s Pass Trail Description

Deadman’s Pass is a scenic, easy route that’s simple to navigate. You can do this hike on its own for views of Mescal Mountain, Boynton Canyon, and Maroon Mountain, or you can use it as a connector for Long Canyon Trail and Mescal Trail.

The terrain on this route is quite varied, going from rocky to sandy to wooden steps. Good boots are helpful. Also, keep an eye and ear out for mountain bikers on this trail.

From the trailhead, take Deadman’s Pass Trail, staying right. Veering left will take you up Boynton Canyon. Head between Mescal Mountain on your right and the mountains that line Boynton Canyon on your left. The trail is easy to follow and continues straight on. This route terminates at the junction with Mescal Mountain, where you can either turn around or adventure a little further.
