Chapel to Broken Arrow to Mystic Trail Loop Description

The Chapel to Broken Arrow to Mystic Trail Loop packs a lot into a relatively short hike. Starting at the Chapel of the Holy Cross, which was designed by Marguerite Brunswig Staude and Frank Lloyd Wright, you’ll loop West and East Twin Buttes and check out the Chicken Point viewpoint. This beautiful hike is definitely worth the stop.

We recommend doing the loop counterclockwise so the view opens up in front of you instead of behind you. The hike begins from the road that leads to the chapel at the trailhead parking area. Head east underneath West and East Twin Butte, stopping to snap a photo at Chicken Point looking out over Gibraltar Rock and Lee Mountain. From here, continue looping around East Twin Butte and take an optional short extension to check out the Devil’s Dining Room sinkhole just a few steps of the trail. Continue around the north side of the buttes now heading west, then stay left to head back to Chapel Road.

It’s worth a quick stop into the chapel, which boasts a 200ft cross on the exterior and stunning stained glass windows. It’s one of the top architectural sites in Sedona.
