The Solitude to Beaver Ponds Trail is a beautiful hike through the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This trail is lush and peaceful and a great place to see wildlife, such as moose, deer and songbirds. The bench at the top of this trail is a wonderful place to relax and watch the sunset.
Getting there
This hike begins at the Solitude Mountain Resort on highway 190/Big Cottonwood Canyon Road east of Salt Lake City.

Solitude to Beaver Pond Trail Description
The hike to Beaver Pond from the Solitude Mountain Resort is a gorgeous route in Big Cottonwood Canyon east of Salt Lake City. This trail is moderately challenging, with some steep sections over rocky terrain. Hikers should be prepared with proper, supportive footwear, lots of water, and an excellent snack to enjoy at the top. The hike through the aspen forest is simply wonderful, with so many opportunities to see forest flora and fauna. When hiking, keep your eyes out for deer and moose who live in the forest surrounding this route and are often seen drinking from Beaver Pond.
From the Solitude Mountain resort, cross over Highway 190 and take a left to follow the Old Stage Road over the Mill F East Fork. After crossing over the Fork, stay left at the divide and continue onwards and upwards to Beaver Pond at Willow Heights.
Take a lap around Beaver Pond and enjoy a break on the bench before retracing your steps back to the trailhead where you began.
