Getting there
From Ogden, Utah, head east on the 203 for 10.2mi then turn south onto highway 167. Continue down 167 for 4.0mi then take a right onto highway 262. Head west along 262 past the Snowbasin ski area before parking at the large lot on the left side of the road. The Ogden Canyon Overlook Trail begins here.

The Ogden Canyon Overlook Trail is a fantastic trail northeast of Salt Lake City, Utah. This trail is popular with both hikers and mountain bikers. When hiking, be sure to keep your eyes and ears open, and allow faster folks to pass you by. Forest wildlife such as deer and elk are often seen wandering along this trail. If you are lucky enough to catch sight of any wild animals, do not feed them and be sure to admire them from a safe distance.
The Ogden Canyon Overlook Trail is a favorite among locals and tourists alike. With incredible views throughout and a steady climb along a well maintained trail, the Ogden Canyon Overlook Trail is a perfect way to spend the afternoon enjoying the beauty of the Utah wilderness.
To hike the Ogden Canyon Overlook Trail, begin at the lower lot at the Snowbasin ski resort. From the northwest corner of the parking lot, head north along the well-maintained trail to a divide. At the divide, take the path on the left and hike past the Old Maple Campground. From here, the trail will begin to get steep as you climb northwest along the Ogden Canyon Overlook Trail. Approximately 1.3mi past the campground, the trail will divide again. Stay left here to hike the final section up to the Ogden Canyon Overlook.
Set down your pack and take a well-deserved rest at the overlook before turning around and retracing your steps back to the Snowbasin parking lot where you began.

Ogden Canyon
Ogden Canyon is a 6.0mi long canyon carved by the Ogden River. The Ogden Canyon is named after a successful Canadian fur-trader named Peter Skene Ogden who explored the Great Salt Lake Valley in 1828 and 1829.
