Boulder Creek Hike Description
The Boulder Creek Trail is one of few lightly trafficked hikes in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Enjoy the solitude as you hike the forested path up to the vast meadow. Though this trail doesn’t ascend extreme elevations, the trail’s altitude may have an impact on your journey. Make sure you are acclimated to the area’s elevation and ensure to stay hydrated! Located within the national park, visitors are required to purchase a park pass to adventure this trail.
Begin your hike up the Boulder Creek Trail from the Storm Pass Trailhead. From here, track the Storm Pass Trail over Glacial Creek and into the woodlands. Shortly after your departure from the trailhead you will encounter an intersection. Here, veer right and you will be diverted onto the Boulder Brook Trail. Hike along the Boulder Brook Trail, through the next junction and up along the curves of the brook. Ascend the forested path all the way up to the meadow.
In the meadow, you will find the Boulder Creek dispersed campsites which mark the end of your adventure. Explore the meadow and search for elk and deer grazing! Also notice the expansive views of the snow-dusted peaks of the Mummy Range and Continental Divide. Revel in the beauty of the Colorado Wilderness before beginning your descent. When you are all set to head back to the trailhead, simply retrace your steps back along the path.
