Southern Gritstone Edges Walk Description

While the Southern Gritstone Edges Walk is a bit on the long side, it is packed full of such amazing Peak District views and features easy terrain that will make you forget about the 12.5mi overall distance. Setting out from the trailhead in the village of Baslow, head northeast across the open farmland to climb uphill towards Baslow Edge. Follow the escarpment north, where it will first transition into the Curbar Edge and then the Froggatt Edge, all the while providing some spectacular views overlooking the Derwent Valley and the surrounding Peak District landscape. From here, the trail will head east on a brief uphill climb before turning south to follow along the rugged expanse of White Edge. After experiencing some more stunning views, you will descend the hillside towards Gardom’s Edge, continuing south east to eventually cut across the estate grounds of Chatsworth House on the way back to the village of Baslow where you began.
