Rivelin and Redmires Walk Description

Setting out from the trailhead next to the Fox Holes Lodge, pass through the gate and continue along the forested track as it runs alongside the edge of the reservoir. At the fork, keep to the left and pass through the kissing gate to follow the trail south through a serene stretch of forest that runs alongside the flowing waters of Wyming Brook. After crossing over several bridges, you will eventually arrive at a junction in the trail. Head left here and continue straight for 365ft, where you will meet up with the road.

Cross over to the other side and follow Soughley Lane south for 450ft, keeping an eye out for a trail that will branch off to the right. Follow this to pass through a series of gates and make your way around the Wyming Brook Farm Certificated Site on your right. After crossing over a stile, enter into the forest and make your way through the trees for 0.1mi, crossing over one more stile to eventually meet up with the road. Follow this north and keep left at the fork to pass through the Redmires Plantation and cross over a bridge to arrive at the edge of the road.

Follow the road to the left for 0.3mi while enjoying the views across the reservoirs before picking up the trail on your right that runs alongside the Redmires Top Conduit. Pass through the gate and follow the wide track along the edge of the water for the next 0.6mi, passing through a number of gates before arriving at a junction. Take the path to the right and cross over the stile, following it through the open terrain of the moor for 0.3mi. Make your way over Reddicar Clough and continue north along the moor for another 0.3mi, passing through one gate before arriving at the edge of a forest.

Make your way into the tree cover and cross the Rivelin Brook, following the path to the right to follow closely along the edge of the flowing water as it dissects the forested landscape. In 0.4mi, keep right onto the track and continue to follow it through the beautifully atmospheric forest. Stay left along the trail for the next 1.3mi, as you take in the tranquil setting of the Fox Holes Plantation that is filled with moss-covered trees and bubbling brooks. After exiting the tree cover and passing through the gate, continue straight along the road to return to the car park having completed the Rivelin and Redmires Walk.
