Redmires Reservoir Circular Walk Description

The Redmires Reservoir Circular in Peak District NP is a short and flat walking route around three bodies of water. While the trail isn’t challenging or technical at all, some areas along the path can become waterlogged and fairly muddy. Make sure to wear proper walking footwear in order to stay comfortable along the trail.

Even though this route traverses some relatively flat terrain, that does not mean that it is short on scenic views. While out on this walk you will stroll along the edge of three scenic reservoirs and enjoy views of the surrounding farms and woodland terrain. The route is also made up of easy to navigate and well-maintained paths, making it perfectly suitable for a fun family outing to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Setting out from the parking artea, follow the road west for 0.7mi to make your way along the edge of the Redmires Upper Reservoir. Enjoy the views that stretch out across the water, before arriving at the end of the road where you will find three trails branching off in different directions. Head through the barrier and follow the trail to the left, crossing over the stile to make your way through a boggy stretch of terrain.

After crossing over two streams, you will come to a bridge crossing over Fairthorn Clough. Make your way over the bridge and take the path to the left at the fork. From here, continue straight for 0.4mi until you arrive at the edge of the middle reservoir. Cross over the bridge and follow the trail to the right, making your way along the edge of the water for 0.4mi, where you will come to a fork.

Keep left at the fork and make your way over the bridge, following the trail for another 0.2mi along the edge of the Redmires Lower Reservoir. Cross the stile and head left, keeping left at the next two junctions to pass through a gate. At the next intersection in the trail, turn left to make your way to the edge of the water and follow it to the right. As you follow closely along the edge of the reservoir, soak in the views across the calm water that include the surrounding hillside in the backdrop.

Shortly after crossing over two bridges, turn right and follow the trail north for 0.3mi as it skirts alongside the middle reservoir and arrives at another bridge. Make your way across and follow the path as it returns to the trailhead where you began the Redmires Reservoir Circular Walk.
