Whether the aim of your adventure is to take in the natural beauty along the Northumberland coast or to visit the historic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, the Dunstan Hill Caravan Site to Craster Loop is an amazing route that will be sure not to disappoint.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northeast through the campsite, traversing the open farmland and passing by several cottages to arrive at the edge of a golf course. Heading to the right, you will continue on towards the coast, where you will quickly come to the site of the 14th Century Dunstanburgh Castle. Here, you can spend some time exploring the fascinating ruins, before continuing along the trail.
As you make your way to the southeast along the coast, you will have some wonderful views looking out across the North Sea, eventually making your way into the charming village of Craster. If you are feeling a bit hungry or thirsty on your walk, the Jolly Fisherman Inn by the harbour is a great place to pop in for some refreshments. After passing through the village, you will make your way back to the northwest, once again traversing a stretch of open farmland on the return to the trailhead where you began.
