Dalby Forest and The Bridestones Trail Description
If you are looking for a fairly easy walk in the North York Moors that features a variety of terrain, beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, and the chance to visit a unique rock formation, then the Dalby Forest and The Bridestones Walk is a great option for you to check out.
Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the northwest along the edge of the wood to cross over Jonathan Gill, before climbing up the forested hillside. After breaking free of the tree cover, you will cross the open countryside to eventually arrive at the site of The Bridestones, a formation of sandstone that has been steadily eroded by the North Yorkshire weather over thousands of years.
From here, you will continue on to the north across a stretch of moor, before turning sharply to the southwest. After traversing the picturesque countryside and arriving in the southwest corner of the route, you will turn to the east and descend the hillside, walking parallel to Thornton Beck on the way back to the car park where you began.
