Samuelsons Rocks Trail Description

The Samuelsons Rocks Trail is a moderately difficult route by Joshua Tree National Park standards, meaning it should be avoided by those with young children. It is also important to keep in mind that the route is poorly signed at best, so you should ensure that your equipment and skills are up to the challenge before attempting.

With your car parked, make your way south across the relatively flat terrain that lay ahead. You will soon arrive at the Quail Wash, at which point you will begin to follow it as it heads west. The Quail Wash will lead you to a path called Bigfoot Trail that you will then follow to the south. After a few hundred feet, the Samuelson Rocks will be visible.

Take your time as you walk throughout the area, being sure to appreciate the Samuelson Rocks and other historic ruins scattered around. Once you have thoroughly explored, retrace your steps back towards the parking lot.
