Willow Hole Trail Description

As The Willow Hole Trail is within the desert environment of Joshua Tree National Park, it is important you prepare yourself properly for the hike. Ensure that you bring enough water with you, and that you wear sunscreen and a good hat to protect yourself from the sun. Although not an extremely long hike, the Willow Hole Trail is likely too long for most young children.

Having arrived at the trailhead, make your way north on Boy Scout Trail. After traveling over some relatively flat terrain, you will reach a junction. Take the eastern route onto Willow Hole Trail and follow the path northeast. Here the terrain begins to get more mountainous, and the elevation along the trail will start to gradually increase.

The Willow Hole Trail will then veer sharply to the south as it makes its way through a valley characterized by uniquely beautiful rock formations on either side of you. As the rock formations around you become larger and more imposing, the trail will head to the east and then end in a scenic plateau. Enjoy the views as you stop for a rest before retracing your steps back towards the trailhead.
