Mary Schaffer Loop Hike Description

The Mary Schaffer Loop trail is named after the woman who first visited the lake in 1908 after hearing lore of it from the Stoney First Nations people. The interpretive trail begins at the historic boathouse, where the main viewpoint of the lake is. Travel 656ft to the shore and hike along the well-worn path, admiring the activity on the water. Continue along the trail for another 2625ft before curving left into a small cove area.

From the cove, the trail meets a small junction that leads 492ft down to the cove’s beach if you choose to take a break here and enjoy the scenery. Return to the junction and follow the trail into the woods as it makes its way back to the trailhead and main parking lot.
