Holly Lake via Paintbrush Canyon Trail Description
Hike the Holly Lake via Paintbrush Canyon Trail or an epic overnight backpacking expedition. Either way, the striking alpine scenery will render you speechless. The photogenic landscape offers countless photo opportunities, so make sure your camera is charged before heading out. Similar to all hikes in the area, we encourage explorers to bring bear spray in case of an encounter! The climb up to the lake is consistent, so wear a sturdy pair of footwear! Note the Grand Teton National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.
Embark on your alpine adventure from the String Lake Trailhead. Following the northbound Sting Lake Trail, you will cross a footbridge beneath Leigh Lake. Admire the views of the lakes on opposite ends, then persist along the String Lake Trail before diverting right onto the Paintbrush Canyon Trail. Now more intensely climbing, this route will lead you through the craggy canyon adorned with meadows, and lush tree stands. After some hiking, you will confront another intersection; veer right here onto the Holly Lake Trail.
Beyond this point, you will pass a small pond before reaching Holly Lake. Once you reach the lake, take the time to rejuvenate your tired feet in the chilly alpine waters. Revel in the beauty of the Teton Mountains from here, and when you are ready, head back down the path the way you came.
