Hidden Falls via String Lake Hike Description
Explore the base of the jagged Teton Mountains as you wander the Hidden Falls via String Lake Trail. This gorgeous footpath features not one but two amazing glacial lakes, mountain views, and a hypnotic waterfall. This area is one of the most highly frequented destinations in the park, so head out in the early morning to beat the rush. Additionally, we encourage you or someone in your party to carry bear spray just in case! Note the Grand Teton National Park charges an entrance fee—check out the NPS website for additional information.
Embark on your hike along the Hidden Falls via String Lake Trail from the String Lake Trailhead. Setting out from here, the rightmost branch of the Jenny Lake Loop Trail crosses a footbridge revealing wonderful views of the Cathedral Group before entering the Alder Fire Burn Area, which has been renewed with lush vegetation! Here is where moose are most commonly encountered, so keep an eye out. Enjoy the scene of Jenny Lake shimmering in the sunlight as you progress further into the wilderness. You will be signaled by the increase in traffic when you are near the Hidden Falls.
Continue following the Jenny Lake Loop Trail through the tree stands and meadows until you confront an intersection with the North Cascade Creek Trail. Heading west, you will soon merge onto the South Cascade Creek Trail and then onto the Hidden Falls Trail from there. This route will deliver you to the base of the 100ft cascade that plunges over the craggy rockface. Admire the mesmerizing waterfall, then head back the way you came.
