Leigh Lake Trail: Short Version Description

Those seeking a scenic, but easy-going adventure in the Grand Tetons have come to the right place. The Leigh Lake Trail: Short Version, is a memorable hike that the whole family can enjoy. Immerse yourself in the lush wilderness abundant with wildlife and revel in the post-card-worthy scenery. Similar to all trails in the National Park, bear encounters are possible, so make sure at least one person in your party has bear spray and knows how to use it. Note the Grand Teton National Park charges an entrance fee, so refer to the NPS website for additional information.

This hike begins from the Leigh Lake Trailhead. From here, travel north along the String Lake Trail. This lovely route will wander through the woodlands along the eastern shoreline of String Lake. Granted views through the tree breaks and meadow-cloaked areas, you will be astounded by the views of the mountains. Continue along this flat path until you ultimately reach an intersection with the Leigh Lake Trail. Setting out from here you will be guided up a steep segment of terrain to a breathtaking overlook of Leigh Lake.

Beyond this point hikers will track the Leigh Lake Trail along the shoreline of the glacial pool. Though you can continue further, we turn around before the inlet opens to the lake. From here, you will enjoy mesmerizing views of the pool mirroring Mount Moran which will render you speechless. To get back to the trailhead from here simply retrace your steps.
