Cottonwood Creek Trail Description

The Cottonwood Creek Trail is an easy and accessible adventure that can be enjoyed year-round. Once snowfalls, simply strap on a pair of snowshoes or cross-country skis and marvel at the scene of the winter wonderland! This route Is almost entirely exposed, which grants incredible views but sunny conditions most days, so wear SPF! As with all hikes in the Grand Tetons, make sure you are bear aware! We recommend that you or someone you are exploring with carry a can of bear spray and know how to properly use it! Note the Grand Teton National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information.

Setting out from the Cottonwood Creek Picnic Area, cross the Teton Park Road and begin your hike along the Cotton Wood Creek Trail. Taking the leftmost branch of the route, you will be guided along the western side of the meandering creek through a lush meadow that boasts breathtaking views of the looming Grand Tetons. Revel in the scene of the dramatic mountain range, and keep an eye out for wildlife as you hike! Eventually, the route will intersect with the Burned Wagon Creek, keep right here and cross over Cottonwood Creek.

At this point, you will reach an intersection, turn right and wander south along the paved route that runs alongside the Teton Park Road. Admire the topographic variety of the region—from the Tetons to the plains, and after some hiking, you will be delivered back to the picnic area and parking lot.
