Mount Brown Lookout Trail Description
The Mount Brown Lookout Trail is popular among avid hikers who are looking for a heart-pumping challenge. This trail ascends for the majority of the hike, but it is well worth the challenge. Beginning at the Sperry Trailhead, you will find yourself on the Gunsight Pass Trail. This area is an immediate climb uphill. At 1.6mi into the trail, you will reach the Mount Brown junction, and you will need to turn left.
This area is pretty steep, and over the next 0.3mi, you will ascend more than one thousand feet. There is no real area to stop for a break until you reach a large patch of huckleberries, but this is no time to relax as it is a grizzly habitat, so make some noise as you pass through. After 3.9mi, you will begin to see some break in the trees, and you will catch your first glimpse of the stunning views that lie ahead. Another 0.3mi and you will be able to take in the views of Heavens Peak and will see your final destination, the fire tower. Once you have finished taking in the breathtaking scenery, head back the way you came as this is an out-and-back trail.
