Dunkery Beacon Circular Walk

Walking the Dunkery Beacon Circular Trail is a great excursion in Exmoor National Park that is popular with outdoor enthusiasts looking to experience the rugged terrain towards the interior of the park. You should make sure to wear sturdy walking boots with good ankle support, as there are multiple inclines along the trail. If you are walking with a dog you will need to ensure that they are on a leash, as Exmoor ponies and livestock may be present in the area.

Setting out from the car park, you will immediately begin making your way uphill across the moor to the northwest, in a relatively brief effort to reach the summit of Dunkery Beacon. Take some time to appreciate the stunning views of the surrounding countryside and coastal areas to the north, before making your way downhill to the west. After crossing over a road, you will descend another hill and loop around the moor to the southwest, climbing back uphill to once again cross the road. From here, follow the trail east across the moor to enjoy some final views of this unique landscape before arriving back at the car park.
