Granby Reservoirs from Island Lake Hike Description

For those who want to explore the vast forests surrounding Grand Mesa without the challenges of a longer and more rugged route, the Granby Reservoirs from Island Lake Hike will be the perfect adventure. This trail utilizes a forest service road, meaning that the terrain may not be the most exciting, but will allow you to traverse the dense forests and rolling landscape with relative ease.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will follow Forest Service Road 115 to the southwest, passing by the Island Lake Campground and entering into the dense cover of the woodland landscape. Throughout the route, you will pass by countless smaller bodies of water nestled in the serene forest setting and pass through charming meadows, before arriving at the endpoint of the route near the much larger Granby Reservoirs. Take some time here to explore the area, before heading back along the same route to return to your vehicle.
