Elk Range Trail Description

The Elk Range Trail exhibits the stunning wilderness that Colorado has to offer. Hike amongst grazing deer and elk, enjoying the fresh scent of the pines that line the base of the Centennial Cone. This lovely adventure offers activities for all sorts of outdoor enthusiasts, hike, bike, snowshoe, or horseback ride you will be trekking alongside like-minded explorers. Rattlesnakes are sometimes spotted in the area so keep an eye and ear out for them as you hike. Additionally, the Elk Range Hike is subject to hunting closures, check this website or the trailhead bulletin for updates.

Embark on your adventure along the Elk Range Trail from the trailhead. From here, head northeast along the path. The initial segment of the hike will reveal the sights of the Centennial Cone. As you near the base of the mountain, the terrain will gradually ascend to a stunning overlook of the Front Range region. Revel in the vistas of the rolling hills dotted with verdant vegetation and distant views of the snow-capped peaks that line the horizon. Continue trekking the path through the luxuriant meadowlands that are often dotted with grazing elk! In the autumn you may even hear them bulge!

You will come to the end of the adventure at the northern trailhead. From here, simply retrace your footing along the route back to the trailhead.
