The Harvest Scene Trail Description

The Harvest Scene Trail is a gorgeous, challenging loop to incredibly preserved pictographs in The Maze District of Canyonlands National Park. Access to the Chimney Rock Trailhead, where this hike begins, does require a vehicle with 4WD and high clearance. The Harvest Scene Trail itself has steep scramble sections, so proper footwear and relevant experience is required. This hike leads you to the incredible Harvest Scene rock art panel: a series of human and animal forms painted on the canyon wall over 2000 years ago. As with any panel of rock art, do not touch or lean against the pictographs and do not leave any markings of your own on the canyon walls. The Harvest Scene is one of the best known and best-preserved panels in the World—let’s keep it in its incredible condition for future generations to learn from and enjoy.

From the trailhead, follow the path to the left to hike the loop clockwise. The South Fork trail meets up with this trail at the top of the loop, keel right at this junction to stay on route.

The Harvest Scene loop ends back at the Chimney Rock Trailhead. If you are looking for more to do in the area, consider hiking the Chocolate Drops Trail just down the road or spending a night camping under the stars at the Chimney Rock Campground.
