Long Canyon Hike

The Long Canyon Hike is a wonderful option for intrepid adventurers who crave a challenge. Venture off the beaten path and trek along the overgrown path. If you are anything like us, then you will love the primitiveness of the path. Immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the fresh mountain air. As you hike through the wilderness, be mindful of wildlife and consider wearing a bear bell to mitigate the chances of an unwelcome encounter. Though this path is open year-round, it is advised to trek after the snow melts. If you are set on hiking in the winter, then strap on some microspikes or snowshoes.

Begin your expedition along the Long Canyon Hike from the trailhead off Flagstaff Road. From here, track the unmarked path northeast. Immediately after your departure from the trailhead, you will begin descending into the forested canyon. Enjoy the sparse sights of the Boulder cityscape below, and you will eventually be guided down a set of switchbacks. Mind your footing as you climb down the steep path.

The path, now leading adventurers northeast, will eventually confront the Ranger Trail. This is your turnaround point. If you still have some gas left in the tank, then hook onto the Ranger Trail and explore further. If you are ready to return to the trailhead then simply backtrack up the path.
