Green Mountain via Gregory Canyon Hike Description

The Green Mountain via Gregory Canyon Hike is an epic expedition through a forested canyon up to the summit of Green Mountain. Located so close to the city’s center, this path is a crowd favorite amongst locals and tourists alike. If you are seeking a secluded adventure, then we urge you to consider another trek or hike in the early morning on weekdays. When hiking this path in the winter, be sure to strap on some crampons to help safely navigate the likely icy and snow-packed terrain.

Hike among like-minded individuals up to one of Boulder’s prominent peaks along Green Mountain via the Gregory Canyon Trail. Departing from the trailhead, track southwest along the Gregory Canyon Trail. Ascend the forested canyon, keeping an eye out for moose. Eventually, you will encounter an intersection, here keep left and track along the Ranger Trail. The Ranger Trail will lead you up an increasingly exposed terrain as you near the summit.

Eventually, you will merge onto the Green Mountain West Ridge Trail. This path will guide adventurers up to the summit which reveals 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness. In the west, notice the snow-dusted peaks that flank the verdant foothills and Boulder’s cityscape in the east. Appreciate the vistas and when you are ready, simply retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
