Shadow Lake Trail Description
The Shadow Lake Trail is a beautiful route in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This trail is moderately challenging with rocky terrain and steep sections. Proper hiking footwear is essential and hiking poles can be helpful for balance and support on the ascents and descents. This route is a popular mountain biking trail, so keep your eyes and ears open when hiking and allow folks on two wheels to pass you by. The views along this trail are absolutely gorgeous and this hike is a great way to stretch your legs and enjoy the peace and beauty of the Utah wilderness.
From the Bloods Lake Trailhead, follow highway 190 west then turn right to head north at Guardsman Pass. Follow the trail on the left-hand side up Scott’s Bypass then head northeast over Scotts Pass before taking the Wasatch Crest Connector Trail down to Shadow Lake. Follow the Shadow Lake Loop Trail around the lake and back to Scotts Pass before retracing your footsteps back to the trailhead.
If you are looking for a longer, more challenging hike in the area, check out the Jupiter Peak and Shadow Lake Loop.
