Polly Dome Lakes Trail Description
The Polly Dome Lakes Trail is a great addition to anyone’s Yosemite itinerary. The diverse terrain and postcard-worthy scenes are well worth the detour! Departing from one picturesque lake to head to another, there is no shortage of impressive views. Note: sections of the path are uneven and rocky, so we suggest wearing a sturdy pair of footwear! Don’t forget to pack plenty of water and snacks to refuel along the lake’s shore. The Yosemite National Park charges a fee; check out the NPS website for the pricing guide.
Setting out from the Murphy Creek Trailhead off the shores of Tenaya Lake, the Murphy Creek Trail wanders north through mixed pine forests adorned with granite outcrops. As you hike, the route will gradually climb to reveal sights of the Sierra Nevada Range through the tree breaks. As you approach Murphy Creek, you will eventually notice the unmaintained Polly Dome Lakes Trail on your right-hand side. Trekking east, you will intersect with Murphy Creek before arriving at the lake.
Admire the scene of the shimmering lake bounded by granite bluffs, and the small snowmelt cascades that feed the lake. After exploring the lake’s shore, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
