Cohab to South Fruita Overlook Description
The Cohab to South Fruita Overlook trail is a stunning, moderately challenging hike in Capitol Reef National Park. This trail begins with a steep climb, and ends with a steep descent, so wear proper, supportive footwear. We recommend bringing along hiking poles for some extra support on the climb. The hike up the switchbacks is totally worth the effort; after traveling through the canyon, you’ll emerge to three breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the Fremont River and Fruita below.
Starting at the trailhead, follow the path up the switchbacks heading westward. Continue along through the canyon to a divide, take a left and follow the path a short distance to a three-pronged fork in the trail.
Check out each overlook at the end of each prong before turning around to head back through Cohab Canyon and down the switchbacks to the trailhead.
