Dogwood Campground Loop Trail Description
Hiking the Dogwood Campground Loop Trail is a laid back experience, but there is still some rugged woodland terrain that you will encounter. Make sure that you are wearing comfortable hiking shoes for this adventure. Additionally, navigation along this route can be tricky at times. Although you are never too far from the campground, feel free to bring a GPS if you are hoping to stay on the correct path.
Whether you plan on spending a few days camping in the area or are simply after a quick and easy hike through the forest, the Dogwood Campground Loop Trail is a great adventure to set out on. The peaceful forest setting is perfectly squirted for families or individuals looking to take in the natural beauty of the woodland landscape.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will head east along Dogwood Campground Road for about 200ft and turn left to enter into the dense cover of the forest. Here, you will head north and take in the natural beauty of the woodland landscape on a route that runs parallel to the road.
As you walk along an elevated position on the hillside, the trail will begin to turn to the northeast and come close to the edge of Dogwood Canyon Road. Here, the trail will turn sharply back to the southwest and climb slightly uphill through the forest to reach the boundary of the Dogwood Campground.
Do not follow the road back through the campground, instead, continue along the forested path as it leads northeast, before turning to the south to skirt around the edge of the campground. After roughly 0.4mi through the tree cover, the trail will turn west and meet up with Dogwood Campground Road. Heading left along the road, you will follow it as it winds through the campground over the next 0.7mi to arrive back at the trailhead where you began your adventure along the Dogwood Campground Loop Trail.
