Lake of the Woods Trail

Featuring a bit of a longer trail, plenty of nice scenery, and a good variety of terrain, the Lake of the Woods Trail is a great route for outdoor enthusiasts of all skill levels who want to explore the beautiful woodlands near Grand Mesa, Colorado.

Setting out from the parking area, you will head to the northeast through the forest and gently descend the hillside, before crossing over several streams. Here, you will continue on to the east across the undulating landscape and pass by the Bull Reservoirs, traversing a mixture of dense forest and open meadows on the way to the shores of Cottonwood Lake No.1. Take some time here to explore the scenic shores of the woodland lake, before backtracking along the trail to relive the forest scenery enroute to the trailhead.
