Glacier Creek Trail Description

The Glacier Creek Trail, though short, packs a punch. Trek beneath the coverage of an aspen grove to a vast meadow where elk are often spotted grazing. From here the path follows the curves of the creek to Sprague Lake. As you hike you will be rewarded with expansive mountain views, including sights of Longs Peak. Because this trail is located within the Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP), visitors are required to purchase a park pass.

Embark on your adventure along the Glacier Creek Trail from the Glacier Gorge Trailhead. From here, track south over Chaos Creek and at the intersection, veer left onto the Glacier Creek Trail. Hike along the path as it intersects with Glacier Creek on numerous occasions. Track northeast along the path past a small pool and through a meadow. As you hike, sights of Emerald Mountain will come into view in the east. Eventually, the path will divert away from Glacier Creek and merge with Boulder Brook. You will meet the trail’s end at Sprague Lake.

At this point, turn around and retrace your steps along the path to the trailhead. As you hike back to the trailhead you will be granted panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks that sit atop the Continental Divide.
