Wallington Hall Walk Description

If you are hoping to mix a bit of North England history into your next outdoor excursion in Northumberland, then the Wallington Hall Walk will be a great option to do so. This 6km trail will lead you around the historic grounds of an estate that dates back to 1475, allowing you to marvel in the beauty of both nature and architecture.

Setting out from the trailhead next to the visitor reception building, you will make your way to the southeast through the forest, where you will briefly pass by Wallington Hall. From here, you will follow the path through the dense cover of the woodland terrain, heading northeast to loop around several charming ponds.

After heading downhill to the southeast, you will meet up with the banks of the River Wansbeck and follow it to the southwest, following the trail as it again loops through the forest to arrive at the national Trust site of Wallington Hall. Here, you can explore the magnificent house that was reconstructed in the Palladian style in the 18th Century. After viewing the grounds, you will follow the path back towards the car park where you began.
