Mammoth Mountain Trail Description
The Mammoth Mountain Trail is considered a moderately difficult route, and so it is important that you prepare yourself for the conditions and terrain. Make sure you bring lots of water with you and that you are wearing sunscreen. We also suggest a good pair of hiking boots.
With your vehicle parked, locate the trailhead off of Minaret Road. Follow the Mammoth Mountain Trail as it makes its way west over relatively flat terrain. The Mammoth Mountain Trail will begin to steadily veer to the south as it makes its way past various ski/mountain bike trails from Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort.
Continuing to make its way south, the trail incline will begin to become steeper. The Mammoth Mountain Trail will then turn to the east, and turn into a series of switchbacks. Having completed the switchback section of the route, you only need to hike a few hundred feet north before arriving at the peak of Mammoth Mountain. Once there, take some time and enjoy the sights before either backtracking your steps towards the trailhead or taking the Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort gondola to the base of the mountain.
