Granite Falls-Fish Ladder Trail Description
This very short, easy loop is a good pit stop off the highway for kids and dogs. You can either just enjoy the grated walkway, or take the stairs down to get closer to the river. While there is some graffiti in the area that detracts from the natural beauty, the falls themselves are nice.
The trail starts off Mountain Loop Highway in a parking area. Head along the walkway to your left, completing one wide turn to the right to the falls lookout. When the fish are running, you’ll be able to see them jumping in the water. The grated walkway is scary for some dogs, but you can look for the stairs to the shore for more solid footing. Skip some rocks, enjoy the shade, and then return to the parking lot the same way you came.
