The Bridestones Circular Walk

If you are looking to explore the varied landscapes that can be found within the North York Moors, then The Bridestones Circular Walk is a great option to do so. Here, you will make your way through forests, fields, and moors to take in the unique sight of The Bridestones that have been weathered away by thousands of years worth of Yorkshire weather.

Setting out from the trailhead at the Fox and Rabbit pub, you will head east and descend the hillside towards the banks of Thornton Beck, turning towards the northeast to follow along the edge of the water. Breaking away from the beck, you will head north and climb uphill through the forest, following the Dalby Forest Drive as it takes you northeast towards The Bridestones. Take some time here to appreciate the relaxing atmosphere of the forest, as you meander through the tree cover and gain ground across the countryside.

After a brief descent along the hillside, you will once again turn to the north, walking along Dovedale Griff as you climb uphill towards The Bridestones. After taking in the views of the weathered sandstone rocks and surrounding moor, you will turn to the southeast and descend the hillside towards Staindale Beck. Heading to the southwest, make your way along the water’s edge, eventually climbing back uphill on the return to the trailhead where you began.
