Getting there
The trailhead of the Box Canyon Loop is on Stevens Canyon Road where it crosses the Muddy Fork of the Cowlitz River. The trailhead is on the east side of the river. Look for a small lot with restrooms and a kiosk. The trailhead is across the road.

The hike on Box Canyon Trail is very short and very easy, making it a great choice for small children or those with limited mobility who want to enjoy the beauty of the park.
From the parking lot, cross the street and take the paved path to a bridge less than half a mile away. Cross the bridge and admire the river flowing through the box canyon. From here, you’ll turn left and return to the highway. That’s all!
