Teign Gorge Walk

Walking through the Teign Gorge is a fascinating adventure that should be undertaken by anyone that plans on visiting Dartmoor National Park, particularly if you love picturesque riverside settings and/or charming historical buildings. Setting out from the car park next to the historic 17th Century Fingle Bridge, you will first make your way east along the River Teign to pass through the beautiful expanse of Cod Wood and visit the remains of an Iron Age hillfort known as Wooston Castle. From here, you will loop back to the west across the undulating terrain of the gorge until you reach Fingle Bridge, continuing west along the river. Reaching another bridge, you will cross over to the other side and head uphill along Hunter’s Tor, utilizing the Hunter’s Path to walk below the 20th Century Castle Drogo, the last castle to be built in England. Head east along the trail and follow it downhill to return to the trailhead.
