Route Description for Heil Valley Ranch

Take the Wapiti Trail from the trailhead, this is the start of the out and back section of the route. Wapiti is a rocky trail that steadily climbs out of Heil Valley through the dense pine forest. Pedaling through the heart pumping climb, the trail runs into a trail junction with Ponderosa Loop.

Take Ponderosa Loop clockwise for a fun, flowy downhill section to the scenic overlook. After taking in the views at the overlook, continue around Ponderosa Loop and start bombing downhill, back down Wapiti Trial.

For the sake of comfort, a full suspension bike wouldn’t hurt smooth out the rocky descent.

Good views throughout the whole ride. A few tricky spots but a lot of fun in general.
