Tuolumne River Trail Description

The Tuolumne River Trail is a charming adventure that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Explore the trail with the Tuolumne Meadows on one side and the babbling waters of Tuolumne River on the other. This stimulating hike will guide you over smooth granite boulders as you hike along the banks of the waters. Note: the terrain here can be slippery after rainfall, so exercise caution and mind your footing. Additionally, Yosemite National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for more information.

Your trek along the Tuolumne River Trail begins at the Pothole Dome Trailhead. From here, the Pothole Trail will guide you around the granite dome, before delivering you into the lush meadows of Tuolumne. As you hike the path, keep an eye out for deer camouflaging amongst the grass, before eventually descending to the waters of the Tuolumne River. Once you reach the banks of the river you will be granted inspiring views of the waters cascading over granite bluffs.

Enjoy the meditative sounds of the rushing waters and refresh your feet in the chilly waters. Revel in the scenery of the mixed pines, lush meadows, and granite peaks that surround you. When you are ready, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead. If you still have some gas left in the tank, hike up to the summit of Pothole Dome before returning to the parking lot.
