Mono Meadow Trail Description

The Mono Meadow Hike is an awesome adventure that exhibits breathtaking vistas of Yosemite’s famous granite domes and the encompassing lush wilderness. Wander through the picturesque meadowlands and mixed conifer forests while enjoying the sweet-smelling fresh air. Note: the path is often muddy in the spring and after a good rainfall, so make sure to wear water-resistant footwear and mind your step! The National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional information and a pricing guide.

Setting out from the trailhead, the Mono Meadow Trail heads north down a steep ridge, before redirecting east to travel through the meadowlands. Let the fresh mountain air fill your lungs as you wander through the meadows and mixed pine forests, reveling in the sights of Half Dome in the northeast. Soon, the path will intersect with a charming snowmelt stream before descending a set of switchbacks to Illilouette Creek.

Once you arrive at the edge of the creek, you will have reached your turnaround point. If you still have some gas left in the tank, then feel free to explore one of the many intersecting paths here. When you are ready to head back, simply retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
