Merced Grove Trail Description
Hiking the Merced Grove Trail is a tranquil experience. Open year-round, you can enjoy this scenic trail with a pair of snowshoes or cross-country skis! Take note that sections of this path are steep and uneven, so mind your footing and consider wearing a sturdy pair of footwear. Additionally, there is no drinking water at the trailhead, so make sure to bring plenty of water with you! Less trafficked than other sequoia grove hikes, this makes for a great escape from the typical Yosemite crowds. The Yosemite National Park charges an entrance fee, check out the NPS website for the pricing guide and additional information.
Embark on your adventure through Merced Grove from the trailhead off Big Oak Flat Road. From here, track the Old Yosemite Coulterville Road south. Soon after your departure from the trailhead, you’ll encounter an intersection. Keep left here and you will be diverted onto the Merced Grove Trail, which will guide you near the Moss River as you wander the magical forested path. Soon, you will reach the section of the grove decorated with immense, ancient sequoias.
Revel in the grandeur of the sequoia trees as you explore the grove, and when you are finished meandering the woodlands, head back the way you came to the trailhead.
